A realist process evaluation of an intervention to promote competencies in interprofessional collaboration among interdisciplinary integrated care teams for older people: Study protocol.

Background: International policy is increasingly committed to placing interdisciplinary team-working at the centre of health and social care integration across lifespan. The National Clinical Programme for Older People in Ireland has a critical role design implementation Person’s Service Model, which aims shift delivery away from acute hospitals towards community-based care. Interdisciplinary Community Specialist Teams older persons (CST-OPs) play an important this service model. To support development competencies interprofessional collaboration team-based approach integration, culture will be required within delivery. Design: This study builds upon collaborative partnership project co-designed framework describing core CST-OPs. A realist-informed process evaluation undertaken as described are being fostered newly developed CST-OPs under national scale-up Realist approaches reveal what worked, why it worked (or did not), whom circumstances. Three iterative integrated work packages proposed combine multiple methods data collection, analysis synthesis. Prospective collection four CST-OPs, including qualitative exploration experiences people family carers.
